Securityman PalmWatchIII Wi-Fi Interference-Free Wireless Baby Monitoring System with Night Vision, Audio and Video Motion Detections Review

Securityman PalmWatchIII Wi-Fi Interference-Free Wireless Baby Monitoring System with Night Vision, Audio and Video Motion Detections Review
This 900mhz video baby monitor works very well, with good reception.

I previously owned the Sassy Web Watch IC Baby Video Monitor which also works interchangeably with this one in the 900 Mhz band. It looks like the same OEM design as this one, except that one came with a USB adapter which allows you to monitor your baby remotely (It also cost more than 2x what this one cost at a popular baby store). My wife dropped the video monitor of the Sassy Baby Monitor one night, so the lcd screen cracked and broke, so we were looking for a replacement.

At first we tried to order the Q-See Digital 2.4Ghz monitor that they sell at Amazon as well since it looked very similar to the Sassy monitor we had been using for over a year. It was completely useless since it would lose the connection whenever you moved more than 5 feet away from the camera. I returned that one, and got this one instead since I looked at the specs and it was in the same 900Mhz frequency that the Sassy Web Watch IC monitor was.

It was a pleasant surprise that this monitor works with the existing Sassy camera and Sassy Web Watch USB receiver we already owned, so now we can use the two cameras (one on channel 1 and the other on channel 2) and have one Video Monitor unit for both. I can still continue to use the Web Watch USB receiver to watch the baby on my big TV it's hooked up to and Windows Media Encoder to stream over the internet.

The reception on this unit is actually a lot better than the previous Sassy web Watch baby monitor, probably due to the antenna being longer than before. We no longer get any static when we monitor the baby sleeping in the nursery upstairs from the living room downstairs. This product is highly recommended by me, stay away from the similar looking Q-See 2.4 Ghz unit they also sell here.
I'm really disappointed with this monitor. It stopped working after only several days of use. The screen would either blank out, get white lines, or not go on at all. I couldn't trust that it would stay on - even while plugged in. I replaced the batteries, but it wouldn't help for more than a few minutes if at all. And, like someone else said in their review, when it did work, it was difficult to position to get the baby in view.

Now, we're stuck with the monitor -- and it's not a bargain to begin with! As with many baby gifts, we didn't open and use this one right away. We found out how crappy it was later. And then, because this has such a short return window (45 days?!??!?!), it couldn't be returned. Too short a return period for a baby product, especially an electronic one!!!!! Buy from a company where you can return in-store and with more reviews from the public.
