Graco Angelcare Deluxe Movement Sensor With Sound Monitor Review

Graco Angelcare Deluxe Movement Sensor With Sound Monitor Review
I LOVE this monitor! When my son was a newborn he had terrible stomach pains and he would only sleep on his stomach. I felt safe allowing him to do so knowing this monitor would alert me if he stopped breathing. Otherwise, I would have been up checking on him all night. He is now 7 months old and even though he is past the more risky age for SIDS I still use it every night and during his naps.

The hand unit has an icon that moves as it detects his breathing so when I wake up at night (or am just busy around the house)I can glance at the unit and see that he is breathing. It is so reassuring and nice not having to go in to the nursery to check on him.

The base unit is very sensitive to sound so if I turn the hand set volume all the way up I can even hear him sucking his thumb. I usually set the volume at mid-level at night so I can hear him if he starts crying but not if he just babels or coos a little bit.

The range for the hand unit is great. I can walk outside and around the house out to the driveway and still not lose a connection. I like that there are 2 hand units. We keep one in the bedroom and on in the living room so we aren't constantly moving it around the house with us.

Living in Florida, I don't care so much about the temperature display but it is an added benefit.

I do get an occasional false alarm. This usually happens when he scoots to the far end of the crib. I don't mind so much because it just lets me know the unit is doing its job. I am sure I could adjust the sensitivity down but it happens so rarely I haven't bothered to do so yet. Another reviewer complained that when the alarm goes off on it sounds on both the base unit and the hand unit. It is supposed to alarm on both ends in case the baby has stopped breathing it should wake them up.

I know it is expensive, but all in all it is my favorite baby item. I have recommended it to friends and trust it 100%
We love this monitor for our son. We purchased it before he was born, and he is now 6 months old and we use it every day for naptime and every night. You need a hard surface to put the sensor pad on, so we had to put a piece cardboard across the bars in his Arms Reach cosleeper in order to create a hard surface. This monitor is very sensitive, it tells you when your little one is safely breathing in their crib. Especially with all the crib recalls happening right now (DO NOT GET A DROP SIDE CRIB!!! THERE HAVE BEEN MANY DEATHS AND THE CPSC IS GOING TO BAN THE MANUFACTURING/SELLING OF THESE CRIBS!!), it is comforting to use this monitor to let you know nothing has happened to your baby. Also, so many people still put bumpers, stuffed animals, inclined positioners and blankets in with their babies, which can cause suffocation/SIDS. This monitor is by far the best on the market, and we are happy we found it. The video monitors are fancy, but how can you watch your baby when your sleeping?! And the regular sound monitors can only let you know when they are crying... if they are suffocating, you won't hear a sound!! Get this monitor, you could potentially save your child's life with this purchase!!
