Mother's Minder Bracelet, Pink Review
This bracelet is great and it gets the job done. I always know when i fed her last and from which side. One less thing that I have to remember! It's not very fashionable or anything so I think when I go out, I'll just keep it in the diaper bag next to my nursing cover lol

Philips AVENT DECT Baby Monitor with Temperature and Humidity Sensors, SCD530, White / Blue Review

Philips AVENT DECT Baby Monitor with Temperature and Humidity Sensors, SCD530, White / Blue Review
The first baby monitor we purchased was a color video monitor, and we spent aver $150 on it. I won't get into the details, but we relied so heavily on the video aspect that one day my wife and I didn't realize that the picture had frozen up, and our sixth-month old, upstairs and on the other side of the house, had been crying for who-knows how long. I felt horrible, and right away we ordered this Philips AVENT Baby Monitor to, at the very least, supplement the video monitor.

We had both monitors working simultaneously for a few weeks. The video monitor kept "locking up" on one image of my son, while on the AVENT monitor, I could clearly hear him (mind you, the video monitor also had sound, and apparently it wasn't very good. If I can ever find that monitor, I'll write a review for IT, too!). Soon, we just ditched the video monitor (which was quite a novelty for a while) and kept the AVENT.

It works wonderfully. It is extremely clear, and the lights on the top of the receiver light up in bright white from left to right when our son makes noise; this is handy because it confirms the audio, so you know you're not hearing something more locally. It is a sensative unit, obviously much better-built than the video one had been, both the transmitter and the receiver. The receiver also has a walky-talky feature on it, and often we have calmed down our now 13-month old by holding that button down and talking softly into the handset. We can also clearly see the temperature and humidity level in the room, both of which are handy when your little one has a stuffy nose or the croup, for example.

The base unit also plays a variety of lullabies. We haven't used that feature very often, but when we have, it has been quite pleasant. The battery life of the rechargable handset is excellent; it can stay on for more than a day at a time, and it will quickly recharge.

I am very impressed with the Philips AVENT; it is a bit steep for the $150 range, but as I learned from my experience with the other monitor, quality is very important with baby monitors, and this unit has commendable quality. I do recommend this product, gladly.
Had it for a few weeks and its everything I had hoped for. Great monitor. Secure/Encrypted DECT, clear, Temperature/Humidity appears accurate (moved it around to locations I knew the temp from other sources), and finally the talk-back feature is fabulous. Small handy parent unit works just like a cordless phone - you can easily pickup and move around or leave on its charging home base. Looks its no longer available on Amazon anymore but rather from a different seller and now more expensive!

Home Sentry Interference Free 2 Camera Auto Switching Digital Monitor From Safe Baby. Auto Switching with 8 Camera Capability Review

Home Sentry Interference Free 2 Camera Auto Switching Digital Monitor From Safe Baby. Auto Switching with 8 Camera Capability Review
After reading 100's of reviews, I decided on getting this monitor for our soon to be born son. I researched tons of video monitors, and searched high and low, and finally purchased this one and several others. Unfortunately this unit would not work in my situation. We live in a larger 2 story house and i honestly couldn't be any farther from where i needed the camera to where we would be viewing the monitor. Setup was a breeze, video Clarity was AMAZINGLY clear and it blew the sony models we purchased away! None of the units we tried would go the distance we needed, but like i said, this one had the the best video, both day and night.. We contacted the company, they gave us zero hassle about wanting to return the unit, gave us an RA# we ups'd it back and we received a refund check shortly after. The customer service reviews you read on here are 100% right, they stand behind their product and were nice as can be. I wish this unit worked for us.. I would highly recommend this unit to others, as long as distance isn't too great..
While this unit was highly reviewed and probably technically one of the best I've seen, it had a bug that forced me to return it.

Postives: great image quality even in infrared, good price if you need multi camera, extra feature like feeding timer, VOX setting to activate audio and video at separate volume settings, great reseller who was very knowledgable, invested in the product, and helpful, the cameras came preconfigured so if you're technically challenged most of the hard work is done for you. Also all the devices' firmware can be upgraded. This is an important note because nearly all of the negatives I mention below could be remedied with firmware updates.

Negatives: light sensitivity wouldn't adjust in the morning so room registered black even though there was enough light not to need infrared. This ultimately forced us to return it. Not being able to see the kids room in the morning was an issue since our toddler is in a toddler bed and get up in the morning and plays on his own,we need to see where he is. Also, the focal length was not as wide as our other monitor we were replacing. The other one let us see the whole room with the help of a sliding mirror door. This one was nearly 2 times "zoomed" or tighter to use lamans terms. Because the image was closer to begin with it didn't benefit from the zoom feature that could only be accessed by drilling into the menu. Our old monitor may not have been as sharp, but we could digitally zoom by just toggling the volume button to zoom mode to make out where our toddler decided to pass out on the floor for his mid-day nap. This wasn't as much an issue for monitoring the infant's crib, but i imagine it eventually would be when she started to move around as the camera only got half the bed when wedged between the wall and crib rail at the foot end. Also, there was no way to turn off VOX and jut listen to all the sounds in the room. We found it less disturbing to our sleep to just have the noise of the room and hum of the monitor all night long. The VOX was nice when you wanted to turn up the volume so you could hear anything over a movie or something else you might be doing. Also we found the battery to not be as long lasting as our 2 year old model, but I didn't do any real testing so i could be wrong. Improper VOX settings could easily have over used the screen and drained the battery. Lastly and almost just as important as the reason we returned it is that we found the range to be less than half our old digital monitor (yes the old was digital too). We used to be able to visit our neighbors across the street and next door and still hear and if standing in the window watch our baby sleeping. Now i know many would frown on using the monitor as a baby-sitter when you step out of the house even if you are 20 seconds away, however we're not overly protective parents and are also smart enough to know that even 5 seconds away is too much time to stop a toddler from climbing out of his crib. That's why we put him in a toddler bed at 16 months.

If the negatives don't matter to you, i would recommend this unit but you might want to check with the reseller to find out if firmware updates have been made available since I tested the unit June 2010.

Safety 1st True View Color Video Baby Monitor, White Review

Safety 1st True View Color Video Baby Monitor, White Review
Great product!!! Works as specified...would prefer to have a little longer battery / charge life and possible a wider field of view from the camera but overall it has been very worthwhile, especially since our 2 yr old loves to "venture" around her room for quite some time prior to actually laying down for naps or in the evening.
This monitor produces an excellent color picture during the day and not to bad in black and white during the night. The signal never fades even on the second story of my home or on the other side of it. Battery life on the monitor is about 4 hours or so, but I never cycled the battery and I usually always keep it plugged in. The only negatives are sometimes a pop sound comes from the monitor. It's now very loud or often and only when the sound is on. I also wish that the camera itself had a battery pack for when I have my child somewhere other then his crib. Would I buy it again? Yes, but I would probably buy the next model up for the slightly larger screen.

Summer Infant Sleek and Secure Handheld Color Video Monitor, Grey Review

Summer Infant Sleek and Secure Handheld Color Video Monitor, Grey Review
I would say that I expected a better monitor for the price. The night vision is horrible. If you're interested in one of these video monitors, look at the Summer Best View monitor. It rocks!!
This is our first video monitor, which we got for use with our second child after using a Graco Vibe audio-only monitor with our first child. Having a video monitor is really handy, it does an excellent job of keeping us out of the baby's room. As a concerned parent, it's really easy to want to go in and make sure a young baby is OK, which very often ends up disturbing the baby. Instead, I can grab this monitor and see that my little girl is ok.

Having not used other video monitors, it's hard to make a comparative review, but I did do a fair bit of research comparing other models with this one, there's a few things that made this model an easy choice:

- Small, pocket-size monitor

- Support for up-to four cameras

- Secure audio/video feed

As another reviewer noted, the mounting options are a bit limited, you can either mount it on the wall with a screw w/ wall anchor or sit it on a shelf or another level surface. I chose to mount my two cameras on the wall. Although I chose not to use the cheapy wall anchor included and used a nicer one from the local hardware store. If you turn the volume all the way down on the monitor, you can hold the monitor in one hand and figure out camera placement with the other hand. Like was suggested in the manual, I put a teddy-bear where baby will sleep in the crib. It helps make it easy to figure out placement of the camera. One thing I liked about the cameras and monitor is that they come with pretty long cables. Too many electronics come with shorty cables, not this one.

One thing I was only moderately impressed with was the video quality, the video is a little grainy, washed-out and has an almost slow-mo feel since it's not a high frame-rate, maybe 5 frames per second. That said, the most important feature for a baby video monitor, I think the night-vision works fairly well. I'm able to see that my baby is sleeping, moving or not moving. I mounted the camera 3-4 feet from the baby and if I look closely, I can usually see if her eyes are open or closed, even with the night vision.

We mounted the other camera in my older daughter's room, allowing us to visually check on either child with a push of a button, which is nothing short of awesome. It was easy to add too, press a few buttons, turn on the second camera and voila! You can even use the scan feature which swaps between the monitors every 8 seconds. We have white noise going in each child's room, so when the camera swaps between room, the audio swaps too. The one thing to be aware of is that the audio swap can be distracting if you're trying to sleep. For that reason, we still use the Graco audio monitor in one room and the video monitor with audio in the other.

I've only had this monitor a couple weeks, so I can't comment on the battery lifetime, but the battery seems to last throughout the day of normal use, charging overnight.

I'd probably have given this 4.5 stars if it was possible, but chose to go with 5 to offset some of the other reviews which seem too low due to abnormal breakage or something that doesn't necessarily directly relate to the product features/quality.

Graco Digital Deluxe Video iMonitor Baby Monitor Review

Graco Digital Deluxe Video iMonitor Baby Monitor Review
We can't even tell when our almost 3 year old is in bed, and with the head not being able to pivot like some of the summer monitors, we're stuck looking in one place. it takes forever to initialize the video and the reception is just AWFUL, even less than 100 FT from her room. Skip it.
This monitor is sooo cool, especially for the price. I just found this today at my local Big Lots store for $49, yes, not a typo, less than $50. Brand new in the sealed box, never been opened or returned. I thought it looked like a good deal but had not seen this one before so I did not really know how much they normally sell for. WOW! When I got on the internet to research the price you can bet I was shocked. Just wanted to let everyone know so that they can go to their local Big Lots store to pick one of these up for the same great price. I had no idea that they sold for more than $100. I was thinking that I maybe got like $30 off retail price but was pleased to find out that I got this item for about 1/4 of retail price. Knowing what I know now, I am not so sure that it is worth what I am seeing them sell for on the internet but if you can get one for what I paid for it then you are absolutely getting a good deal!

Summer Infant Secure Sounds Digital Handheld Color Video Monitor 1.8" Screen (with Remote Crib Soother) Review

Summer Infant Secure Sounds Digital Handheld Color Video Monitor 1.8
I think I'm just going to return this monitor for good. I initially loved the monitor and the crib soother when my baby was younger, but now this monitor is more of a nuisance than helpful. The picture is ok...could definitely be better. But sometimes I try and turn on the montitor and it won't read the camera...then I have to go into the nursery to turn the camera on and off for the monitor to read the camera. This is obviously not a good thing when you have a baby who's trying to fall asleep. I have had to return the monitor a couple times because it broke and did not have any sound, or became exceptionally staticky. I had tried to contact Summer Infant once, but they were useless. I think the best point of this monitor is that you don't get any interference from other neighborhood monitors, but there are plenty other digital monitors on the market now, so I would definitely choose one of those over this one.
This video monitor was great with my little one. The soother was a waste of money because it was too bulky and it did not motions did not make her crib vibrate and my little one would just want to play with it.

Safety 1st Crystal Clear Baby Monitor, White Review

Safety 1st Crystal Clear Baby Monitor, White Review
With the birth of our second child we wanted to own a second monitor but didn't want to spend a lot of money, since we already own a Fisher Price of higher quality. The FP monitor has quite a long range so we can use it when we are outside and kids are napping, etc. We bought the Safety First monitor based on reviews on this site, hoping it would turn out to be like the positive reviews and not the negative.

Our experience so far (about one week) has been fantastic. The sound quality is just as good as the Fisher Price monitor. We've had no static issues whatsoever. The range seems quite good as well. I have taken it out into the backyard while the baby is sleeping and it has maintained the same level of quality. Yes, the pieces feel very lightweight and flimsy compared to our sturdy FP monitor. I suppose if I threw this monitor onto a hard surface it would smash into a million little pieces, but why would I do that with my baby monitor? It is serving its purpose for our family very well and I would highly recommend this monitor to anyone looking for something basic and functional.

If we do experience problems down the road I will revise this review.
I got exactly what I was hoping for - a simple inexpensive baby monitor without all the bells and whistles. The transmitter is downstairs in the baby's room and the parent receiver is upstairs in the kitchen. No, the sound quality is not perfect but it is great for the price. I can't hear every breath she takes but I can hear when she's in her bed playing and I can hear when she's crying. I don't get any static.

My only real complaint with this is that it takes a 9V batter (or can be plugged in) but the battery is not rechargeable. I usually have it plugged in so I can't comment on how long the battery lasts.

ZOpid 5.6" Color LCD 2.4GHZ Wireless Monitoring System with Sound, Motion Sensor and Night Vision, Black Review

ZOpid 5.6
Don't know what the other reviewers are talking about, this ZOpid 2.4 Ghz Wireless Color Monitor with Sound, Motion Sensor & Night Vision is great! It would be extremely difficult to find a similarly sophisticated security system at this price anywhere, it would probably cost much more if you could find it.

NOTE: The quality of ALL wireless transmission/receiving systems are dependent on their immediate wireless environment. That means whether or not you have a home WiFi network actively broadcasting through your home, or if your neighbor(s) have one or more WiFi networks active, or if your microwave is constantly in use, or you have multiple wireless phones broadcasting in tandem.

ALL of these items factor into the quality of signals sent and received to your wireless 2.4 Ghz color monitor system. Also, COLOR video and sound signals require much more power and carrier waves to transmit, so that is another issue.

With that said, this ZOpid system which I just installed is working as expected, event though I have my own WiFi network broadcasting in the immediate area (as do several more of my neighbors). The image quality is still strong and clean--once in a while it may pick up a stray microwave oven interference but overall the signal is very satisfactory. The trick is to keep the monitor as close as you can to the camera. You need to experiment with the location, angle and position of the unit, plus adjust the built-in antenna position to achieve optimal reception. This system is also picking up another (non-ZOpid) Swann Nighthawk 2.4 Ghz wireless color camera that I had already installed some distance away, and that signal is strong and clean as well. So you don't necessarily need to get the ZOpid branded additional cameras.

You can choose to "Arm" each camera to switch onto the monitor upon activation of its motion sensor, or you can leave the camera on normal mode and manually view each channel. Another option is to "Scan" each channel automatically on the monitor in turn. Cameras can be "Armed" for motion sensing independently.

This system also comes with a handy credit-card sized remote control for operation of the monitor to view all cameras from a short distance away. I also purchased the matching rechargeable battery for the monitor unit, which turns it into a portable security monitor, very cool! The camera can also be powered by a 9V battery via a supplied battery cable, so the whole camera/monitor system could be portable for use anywhere.

Only minor quibbles would be the manufacturer's use of old-fashioned DIP switches to control the on/off funtion of the cameras underneath the monitor's chassis, plus having to remove the back of each camera to manually set the camera-number DIP switches there as well. Very inconvenient and hard to do if you are not accustomed to this type of switch, plus they are VERY tiny--I had to use a jeweler's screwdriver to physically move the switches up and down. Also, the documentation in the manual is a bit sparse and could be more clearly written. If not for these, would have rated five stars.

So overall, four stars for this ZOpid unit rating, I am very happy with this purchase!
I would suggest that if you have a wireless router in your home for your PC / Computer than this product would not be the best monitoring system. Why, because it interferes with transmission from wireless devices such as a router which run on 2.4 GHz.

I had problems displaying the video to the point where I could get a clear picture through the monitor.

Lorex LW2002W Portable LCD Wireless Surveillance System (White) Review

Lorex LW2002W Portable LCD Wireless Surveillance System (White) Review
Hi there, the product seems to be very nice and have useful functions, but one of the most importants to prevent battery goes out is the SCAN function that scan over all the cameras and make a Beep and activates a specific camera when some noise is detected, in my case that function doesn't work, therefore I need to have the display active all the time if I want to check if something is wrong there and you can't be sure if you have more that one camera installed.

I have contacted support service as specified on the documentation that arrived, but they doesn't answer and the chat function is offline all the time.

My comments, maybe check other brand, it seems to see a serious company but they doesn't, and product doesn't work as announced.
Great picture.

Great utility.

Good sound.

We use it every day and even take it with us when we travel so we can be in someone else's home without having to run into the baby's room during dinner to check he is ok.

In the days when the baby was first born and we were nervous parents, it was wonderful to lie warm in bed and be able to see all was ok and even that he was breathing.

It is good to be able to see what he is doing. Are his eye's open? Is he wriggling? We can judge if he needs us to go in and gently stroke his head and will then go back to sleep. Rather than wait for him to wake fully from a dream and start the feed-soothe-back to bed routine.

If you can afford it and have no qualms about "baby privacy issues", this is the device for you.

"THE HOME SENTINEL" Digital Wireless 3 Camera Handheld Baby Monitor; GUARANTEED FREE FROM INTERFERENCE!!! Review

If you need a monitor for a baby or small child, do yourself a favor and do NOT buy this system. Buy the Home Sentry instead. This same seller has both units for sale. The Sentry is much better for picking up the faint sounds of a baby.

As for the Sentinel, I ordered this three camera system as it sounded like the perfect system for my needs. The problem is the sensitivity of the mic when the unit goes into power saving mode. There is a dial on the side of the camera to adjust the sensitivity, but even with it turned all the way up, and the camera only a few feet from my 3 month old, it will not detect her crying, even when she is screaming. I have to yell at the camera to get the system to wake up. When it is on and awake, I will admit the clarity of the picture and sound is top notch. The fact that I can't actually use it as a monitor, however, makes this system completely useless to me or anyone else who wants to use it in this manner. I tried the other cameras and they made no difference. For my needs, this system is not suitable. Again, DO NOT BUY for a baby monitor.

As for the seller, they were very gracious and sent me a Sentry model out right away. I tried it and it worked great. Then I sent back the Sentinel and they sent me a check for the difference in price. You can buy from this seller with great confidence.

JJ
I ordered the Home Sentinel 3 camera digital wireless monitor from Amazon/Pegasus. This item was to be used for an 84 year old Alzheimer's patient. It arrived with only 2 out of 3 cameras. While apparently there was some confusion about how to resolve the issue it was resolved to my satisfaction and I appreciate the efforts of this supplier.

As far as the Home Sentinel 3 camera digital wireless monitor it is performing great and we find a sense of comfort in knowing the caregivers can monitor the patient in any of 3 rooms.

Graco imonitor Digital Color Video Baby Monitor Review

Graco imonitor Digital Color Video Baby Monitor Review
My Husband bought us this when we found out we were expecting. It worked really pretty well for the first 5.5 months over the last 2 weeks we have had a lot of signal issues. It continuely is refreshing looking for a new signal. I only use it at night, and everytime it looks for that new signal it beeps 3 times- talk about keeping you awake. The beep is now a dieing sounding beep. I am just waiting for it to completely stop working. We have tried multiple of things to fix it, reposition the monitor, move electrical appliances, even calling the company. It only has a year warranty, which was up in december, because the warranty starts from date of purchase. (go figure). We are not looking for a new monitor. Really really disappointed!
Great product, great picture, no static or feedback. There is a second delay but it does not bother me in the least. Highly Recommend.

I tried the new Summer Monitor as well and returned it after 1 night. Horrible feedback and static. Picture was nice but my sleep and sanity are nicer.

Summer Infant Extra Camera For Day and Night Flat Screen Color Video Monitor Review
i am so happy that i found this camera separate from the monitor. With a new baby coming, this is great to save a little money! It is compatible with my summer infant day and night monitor (2500). i am able to switch between channels "A" ( my daughters room) and Chanel "B" for the babys room with out any problems or interference. Its nice that i can still look in on my daughter with out having a whole separate video monitor!

AND i love the original video monitor by the way. We have had it for 2 years with out any problems
Extra Camera for Summer Infant Baby's Quiet Sounds Video Monitor - A18562

We pruchased this camera as a gift for our daughter because she needed to monitor a second room when a new baby moved into the nursery. It fulfills her needs almost perfectly and she is very happy with it. One small problem - if she wishes to listen to both rooms at the same time for "baby noises" - it is not possible. She must go to the monitor and physically switch between the rooms to see and hear each room separately.

The First Years True Choice P300 Premium Digital Monitor, One Parent Unit Review

The First Years True Choice P300 Premium Digital Monitor, One Parent Unit Review
Don't let the positive reviews fool you....oh yeah there are none. The packaging, the quality of the unit are great until....the monitor starts making this incredibly annoying clicking sound every few seconds(see other reviews with same complaint). It randomly makes this electronic click or pop noise. We are going back to the store to return asap to get the Sony 900 MHZ unit we should have bought in the first place. Always trust your gut, go with the name brand when it comes to these things not a coupon and an additional discount the store is offering. If the manufacturer cared about this product they would have never let it leave the test facility until the clicking noise was fixed. Too bad as the rest of the unit is really nice and has the unique feature of talking with your child from the mobile unit.
This product is nicely designed but has terrible range. About a room and a half away from the baby's the signal cuts out, nowhere near the claimed distance of 1000'. I can actually hear the baby further away unaided than I can hear with the monitor. Bigtime fail, and instant return.

Summer Infant SecureSleep Baby Monitor Review

Summer Infant SecureSleep Baby Monitor Review
We purchased this monitor for our second child's room, as we liked the features for the price (temperature sensor is quite accurate). The monitor works as advertised, however the lack of a VOX feature is quite annoying when the monitor is on and the parents are trying to sleep. The microphone is very sensitive, and you can actually hear breaths, which is great. We added this alongside an existing Sony BabyCall monitor, which we absolutely love - 3 years' running and the unit has had zero issues and the original battery still works. We have just purchased a Leavana BabyView video monitor, so keep an eye out for that review as well. Giving this a 4 out of 5 stars, based on the lack of a VOX control/option!
I tried out two of these, one from amazon and one from the military exchange. The 1st one, from the exchange didn't work properly. The egg didn't light up the proper color, but I liked the idea of the temperature monitor so much that I returned that one and ordered a new one from amazon. The one from amazon worked like it was supposed to but after listening in on my 20 month old for 3 minutes horrible loud shrilling static would emit from the monitor for about 60 seconds or so. And it did this every 5 minutes! My husband and I would rush over from playing outside with our 5 year old to "TURN IT DOWN!". Needless to say, it was very loud and annoying and I wanted so bad to keep it but I cannot handle the frantic search for the volume every time I use it. It did this the next 3 days too, even when inside. Maybe it was just that particular one, I don't know but I didn't risk another one!

Slim&secure Handheld Review

Slim&secure Handheld Review
I've been using this monitor for almost 6 months, and I absolutely love love love the picture quality, the sound quality, and how small and portable it is. The battery life is good too. It has a belt clip so I can clip it to my pajamas or jeans and cruise around the house while my baby is sleeping. It's easy to turn the monitor on and off with a tap on the top button. The battery has never died on me, I keep it plugged in next to my bed at night, and carry it with me during all daytime naps with no charging. The sound is great, it has very little static, though the static increases when the monitor is on, it is almost gone when the monitor is off. I can actually hear and see my baby breathe! The only thing I don't like is that it has frozen up on me twice. Once after two months of use, and once today. The first time I called Summer and they emailed me a return label to cover shipping. I sent it back and it was about 2 weeks to receive the new one. I bought a cheapo FP audio only monitor to use in the meantime, it sucked and had lots of static. My monitor died on me again tonight, first the button on top to turn the monitor on and off stopped working earlier today, and now the screen is frozen off, won't turn on or off, and I can't power down the monitor or change the volume. I'm going to try removing the back cover and taking the battery out to try to reset it before I call Summer. I don't want to be without my monitor for two weeks again! All problems aside, I would buy this monitor again because I love being able to watch my son sleep.

***Update: I took out the battery and powered on and it's all better. I should have tried that last time, lol! To remove the battery you have to remove the belt clip (use a straight slot screwdriver to pry it out on one side), then slide the battery compartment open. I feel like a moron, oh well, I have my monitor back!
I purchased this particluar monitor from babies r us in January because the lower priced Summer model was causing me issues with security. We live in a condo complex so the other model was causing interference/static with about 6 other babies on the street and keeping us up all night. So, we bought this slim and secure model. At first, we were extremely happy with it(5 star rating). This purchase was in January of 2010. In less than 2 months the monitor froze on us in the middle of the night(the night my son had the stomach flu, of all nights) and I woke up and the monitor had him in the exact same position as the night before. I was horrified. What if he vomited and choked, we're on a different level in the house...is he alive? It turns out, the video froze from the night before, I couldn't turn it off, and the volume didn't work. It was past the 30 days to return and luckily I bought the 15 month buyer protection plan and got my money back, minus the buyer protection cost(which is ridiculous because I didn't even have the monitor 2 months). Anyway, I bought this exact same model thinking I just had some random defective one. I bought this last week and here I am sitting here and looked over at the monitor and it's frozen black with no picture, I can't shut it off, turn on the volume, and the button doesn't work to turn on the picture. I didn't mention before that the only way to make it work again is to open the back compartment and take out the battery and put it back in. And then just hope it doesn't freeze in the middle of the night.

I am writing this as I noticed another review with the exact same issue. This seems to be a problem with Summer. I am going back to the store tomorrow to return this monitor that is not working after only a week and going to search for another brand....not Summer. My son has only just turned 2 and we've had problems with 3 Summer monitors :(

Bebe Sounds TV-777 TV Listener Review

Bebe Sounds TV-777 TV Listener Review
I ordered these headphones after reading the review about how great they are. Even better than Sony, I believe it said. Well, they're conveniently small and would be fine if I was just laying in bed or something, but that's not why I got them. I purchased them specifically for use while on the treadmill. Not possible. As soon as I turn on the treadmill the sound cuts out completely. I can turn my head to the side, so as to look at the TV out of the corner of my eye, and be able to hear it a bit, through scratches and cut outs. Another feature that I'm not thrilled about (could just be because of my TV) is that I have to turn off the sound on my TV (not mute, actually turn it off via the menu), and use the TV volume control to set the volume on the headphones. Then when I want to use the TV without the headphones, I have to set it via the menu again. Too many extra steps for my feeble brain and busy life :)
SOUND IS POOR TO MUCH BACK GROUND MUSIC BLOCKS OUT VOICES ON TV SHOW,AN HUMS A LOT OF TIMES...POOR QUALITY...DONT RECOMEND.

Sometimes you do get what you pay for. This product is a nice idea but the one I received is going back after only two days. The "baby lights" on both cameras go on an off on their own whim. One camera has since quit transmitting but its lights still work. The clip-on camera and the surprisingly good reception is nice but the product didn't even make it a full 24 hour period of use. Baby Tracker Round the Clock Review

Baby Tracker Round the Clock Review
I was going to create a notebook like this for myself when I stumbled across this fantastic tracker in a shop. As a nursing mom it was indispensable for keeping track of feedings and diapers. It was so helpful for planning as I soon found that I could review the pages and begin to see patters in sleep and feeding times. That was also helpful for anticipating what my son's crying was about. Since then I've given it to all my expectant friends who have all thanked me for this little gem that they didn't even know to register for.
This product was really well designed and thought out. Much better than others out there. I like that you can track times of diaper changes not just number, and that you can easily see the whole day laid out before you. It really helped me through my sleep deprived delirium.

Safety 1st Crystal Clear Nursery Monitor Review

Safety 1st Crystal Clear Nursery Monitor Review
We picked out the Fisher Price model (Fisher-Price Sounds 'N Lights Monitor) with the first baby, and when the 2nd one came about 18 months later, we picked up Safety 1st product on this page. The Fisher Price model hasn't missed a beat, and 15 months later from the Safety 1st model, the Safety 1st product has been transmitting more static than it used to. However, at first it was clear and probably a little more clear than the Fisher Price model, but about 3 months later it began to degrade just a little. Tonight, with both operating side-by-side (typical configuration for us these last 15 months), the Safety 1st unit made a gradually growing louder and louder static noise. I had to shut it off and back on to get it to go back to monitoring the baby's room. Changing channels never really made a difference and only helped when it sounded like a neighbor was using a monitor on a similar frequency. Even now it's not as clear as the Fisher Price model.

Needless to say, we're disappointed with the Safety 1st product and highly recommend the Fisher Price model I referenced. Even if you do a search for 'Fisher Price baby monitor' on Amazon, you'll find many varieties of Fisher Price products with varying features. We really like the visual feedback to show volume intensity (even with the volume turned down). What's especially nice about the Fisher Price model I referenced is that it includes an internal clipping device which cuts the volume down by more than half when the volume passes a threshold - excellent ear protection when baby is screaming!

I gave it 2 stars because it does the job (monitoring the room), just not very well after you use it for a few months.
I bought this after my expensive baby monitory turned out to be junk. This product is cheap, but it works WAY better than the expensive Graco monitor I bought. I wish I had bought this one right from the start. It is reliable and keeps my child safe.

Astak 2.4 GHz Pan & Tilt Baby Camera with 2.5" LCD Color Handheld Monitor with Night Vision Review

Astak 2.4 GHz Pan & Tilt Baby Camera with 2.5
I use this to make sure our dog goes out the doggy door in the basement when it's raining instead of on the basement floor. It works well but it does have a line across the screen and always moves to the bottem the whole time you have it on. So the picture isn't as clear but it does the job and that's all I needed. The old one started conking out and I'd have to reset it every few days (turn power off and then on on the camera downstairs - which started really defeating the purpose). The picture was much more clear without interference and I believe the old one was the same name as the new one, Astak (the old camera doesn't have a name on it anywhere). Anyway, I cought her going in the basement (which is, I'm told, what you have to do to be able to change that behavior) and told her to go outside. She did and we've had no more accidents when it's raining. Thanks to Astak.
I am very disappointed in this camera! I was really excited about getting this camera bc of the ability to move it from the remote. My little boy moves all over the bed so I thought this would b a great feature! The hand unit is constantly staticy when it's plugged in, and if u try using it w/o the plug it dies almost immediately! Spend the extra $70 and get a quality camera!

Daisy Handheld 2.5" Color Video Baby Monitor and 2.4GHz Wireless Camera - Blue - (Day & Night) (Video & Audio) Infant Nursery Monitor Review

Daisy Handheld 2.5
This is the best monitor I have ever used to keep an eye on baby. The design makes it easy to clip the camera on to many things, such as a lampshade, support beam, closet door, etc. We have even taken it on vacation with us! Of course, with any video monitor system that you buy, you need to have realistic expectations. The reception is not always going to be crystal clear due to outside interference. The battery is not going to last all day long (though this monitor's battery has easily lasted over three and half hours for me!). I would (and have) recommend this to any parent. It is an excellent product and has been an invaluable baby item in our household!
Only works if camera is right next to the monitor. It looks like the manufacturer was just kidding intending this to work more than 2 steps away from each other. Nothing more than an expensive night light.

Philips Avent Basic Baby Monitor w/ DECT Technology Review

Philips Avent Basic Baby Monitor w/ DECT Technology Review
It's great that there is no interference on this monitor like there is on all the others I've tried, but it comes at the expense of low volume. Even after setting the sensitivity as high as it goes and the volume as high as it goes, it's still not loud enough. If there is any other noise in the room (like a tv or people talking) it is very difficult to hear.

I ended up returning it and I've gone back to using the noisy one I have - but at least I can hear it.
We have used the monitor for about a month. We live in a block of townhouses and have had no problem with interference or hearing other people on the monitors, etc. Everything works really well, except for one thing. The battery life on the parent monitor is disappointing - it will last one night without charging, but if you don't charge it, in the middle of the second night it will start beeping at you to plug it in. So, I would say the parent monitor can only be on for about maybe 10 hours before you need to plug it in. Not the worst problem in the world, but if the beeping has woken you up in the middle of the night a few times (and baby is still sleeping) it is a bit annoying!

Graco Digital Deluxe iMonitor Baby Monitor Review

Graco Digital Deluxe iMonitor Baby Monitor Review
We used this monitor nearly every day since we had our son 11 months ago. It had great range and no interference. However, the last few weeks, the battery began to die earlier and earlier (It usually lasted a couple of hours before needing charged.) Now, it sits on it's charging base and still will not charge, rendering it useless. I gave this two stars because, for the price that we paid, it was not worth the money - even though it has lasted us 11 months.
registered for this, and it was great for the first couple of months that i used it. the range was good and the sound quality was excellent.

however, by the time my daughter was 1, i had gotten rid of it. it just go worse and worse as time went on. there was a crackling sound that had to with the monitor plug that would wake me up multiple times a night, it was almost always 'out of range' (even from just 1 room away), and the vibe thing wasn't all it was cracked up to be (for me anyway). an absolute waste of money, especially since it was NOT cheap! i had hoped to be albe to use it for several years, but it didn't even make it through one. would loved to have been able to return it, but it'd been too long. i'm looking for another monitor.

Summer Infant Securesleep Handheld Color Video Monitor Review

Summer Infant Securesleep Handheld Color Video Monitor Review
Monitor was easy to setup and had no problems with interference in the house. Also, called to order an extra camera and customer service was fantastic!!
This monitor provides good sound and video. The color isn't great during the day ( still looks mostly black and white to me) but the night vision is very clear and that is what you really need. The temp is not exact but it is good enough to tell you if your child needs a blanket put on or removed and that is worth the extra cost to me. What is really frustrating to me is the fact that I can't find an extra monitor for the second room anywhere. Not even on summer's website! What is the point of having two channels if you can't buy an extra monitor?

Safety 1st In-Sight Video Monitor Review

Safety 1st In-Sight Video Monitor Review
This monitor is a standard video monitor with an audio monitor that you can clip onto your belt or carry around. Yes, if you place the camera too far up you won't get a clear view of the entire crib, but you can adjust the height to view the crib from between the bars. Then the only issue will be your little one may discover the camera and play with it, fold it back or swivel it to another view(...or smile and squeal into the camera). I am happy with this monitor and as for the quality or the image, no it isn't HD and yes you can have too much "noise". However, there are two channels and once you find the right distance and placement, it works really well. We have the monitor in the kitchen and it's like another form of entertainment! Our son's bedroom is directly above our kitchen, so the camera is about 12 feet above the video monitor.
I ordered this monitor even though the reviews I read said it was not good and they were right. Not good, poor reception.I was not able to see the image it looks like an old tv without an antenna. I had to returned it.

Graco imonitor Vibe Review

Graco imonitor Vibe Review
This product continually clicks throughout the night. Due to the constant static as well as the fact that I'm a light sleeper, it makes a sound night of sleep quite difficult.

On the contrary, this product does get the job done, but I wouldn't recommend it to other consumers if given the opportunity.
We purchased this monitor as a replacement to a Fisher Price baby monitor. Our old one had so much interference with electronics. This baby monitor hasn't had any interference and is crystal clear! Love it!! And the small parent unit is so much nicer than our old large bulky Fisher Price unit. It's loud enough to hear from anywhere in the house and has worked wonderfully outside. I highly recommend this product!

Safety 1st Prism Color Video Baby Monitor, Black Review

Safety 1st Prism Color Video Baby Monitor, Black Review
The primary function of this device is to transmit video to a remote monitor and it does a satisfactory job of that. Its range is 200' at most but I live in New York City where the amount of interference is very high so I'll settle for that. Everything else about this device is shoddy and its design suggests that very little thought was put into it. Here's a list of what I think are significant flaws.

TRANSMITTER DESIGN: It's very light for its bulky size. There should be a clamp and a swan/flexible neck so the camera can be mounted on something like a crib and pointed in any direction you want. As it is, it has to sit on a flat surface - in my case that's a table or the rail of the crib. For the latter the unit needs to be balanced ever so perfectly because even the very skinny power cord is enough to pull the unit over on account of it's light weight and smooth underside.

RECEIVER DESIGN: The same problems I just mentioned also apply to the receiver. It seems very light for its size. The base is narrower than the rest of the unit and is also smooth, hard plastic. Keeping it upright and pointed in the right direction is difficult unless you wedge it between other objects. Again the power cord, flimsy as it is, is enough to spin this thing right around with even the slightest jostle. A wide set of three legs with rubber stoppers would do wonders for this device. Also, the buttons are cheap and too small for someone with larger hands.

VOLUME: Most audio devices have a scale from one to ten, this device's scale looks more like this: 0, 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10. Which is to say it's either silent, loud or louder. Yes, I want it loud when I'm asleep so that it wakes me up but if I'm reading or doing some other quiet activity I don't need every creak or slight noise echoing through my apartment. Which brings me to my next complaint:

AUDIO DELAY: The reviewer that likened it to poltergeist got it perfectly. The offset causes everything that's picked up by the transmitter to have it's own echo. Sometimes a sound can be heard live, then the echo is heard, then the monitor picks up the echo and "re-echos" it. I feel like I'm in the Swiss Alps.

BATTERY LIFE: It's much shorter than I expected. It seems like they went overboard in cutting manufacturing costs.

Anyway, I hope there are better devices out there. In the meantime this one will to the job, barely.
the video quality is excellent. we have a wireless router in our home and so far no interference. i agree w/ the other reviewer who said to turn off VOX, set to video Always On, and use button to control video on/off. the camera unit is lightweight and easy to hang on the wall and has nice range of motion (manual). i use this to monitor my 19 month old in the playroom while i am in the next room cooking or doing dishes. i am planning to get a 2nd camera to monitor my newborn as well.

2 features i would like to see: charging dock & video out jack. is annoying to plug in the parent unit and would be awesome to be able to plug it into a larger screen such as a laptop or tv. too bad these features were left off while totally useless features like calendar, alarm, clock, & thermometer were left in...must i be vigilant in detecting a drastic temperature change in the nursery that must be monitored??? will a fireball or glacier be sliding by??

I have not used the product yet, as I am not due until December. But it came in a timely manner and I tried it out and it works great! I had a friend use these monitors/sensory pad etc and she Loved them! Hope I will too!
This monitor really is the peace of mind I need in order to sleep at night having a newborn. However there have been a few false alarms which have sent me dashing into his room unnecessarily. It always however goes off all the time when he is taken out of his crib. The sound is also very clear and the temperature reading definitely quite useful.

BébéSounds Portable Color Video and Sound Monitor Review

BébéSounds Portable Color Video and Sound Monitor Review
This monitor is pretty good for the money. The picture is clear and it's easy to work. Downsides: 1) there's no battery-life gauge on the handset, so all you get is a reddish light for about 5 minutes, then it dies 2) we're in an apartment and someone's crappy cell phone interferes with it. Daily, the signal dies because of it. We had an audio monitor before and we still have to use it because of the interference, but other than the above 2 things, it's worked really well.
This is the second baby monitor I've owned - the first one being a Graco that got tossed down the stairs by my first born. For my second born, I bought this one from [...], and couldn't have been happier.

I don't know about the "problem with electronics" as I've got wireless routers, laptops, a desktop, three cell phones and assorted random electronics operating the majority of the time, and have had no problem.

I haven't tested the range, but it has worked fine being at opposite ends of my 3-bedroom house, with perfect color, perfect night vision, and excellent sound.

Graco Flat Panel Video and Sound Monitor Review

Graco Flat Panel Video and Sound Monitor Review
The Graco Flat Panel Video and Sound Monitor is one of the best purchases I have every made. I originally purchased a sound monitor for my mom who has dementia. I was up several times a night because sleeping upstairs I couldn't always tell what was going on in her room. So everytime I heard a noise I'd go down to check it out. Most times my mom was fast asleep. With the video monitor you can see exactly what's going on and you don't have to make wasted trips. It does exactly what it's suppose to do. I don't know how the night vision works in total darkness because I used a night light in her room. This is a wonderful product not only children but for seniors.
My sister and I purchased this Cam & Video Sound Monitor, and have never been more pleased with a purchase. From set-up to use, which was as easy as 1-2-3, the picture was crystal clear (color by day, night vision/black & white after dark), and the sound makes it seem as though you're right in the room. Our mother is 90 years old, and faced with a diagnosis of dementia, as well as other age-related complications. This Cam & Video Sound Monitor have relieved us of stress and tension we had formerly undergone when we used a sound monitor "only", and had to guess at all the different sounds being made. All we have to do now is look over at the monitor, and all is clear and understandable, and it leaves us ready to respond when necessary.

Thank you AMAZON.COM for making this product available to us, and the cost was QUITE reasonable too.

Fisher-Price Mom Response Digital Audio Monitor with Dual Handsets, 900MHz - White/Grey Review

Fisher-Price Mom Response Digital Audio Monitor with Dual Handsets, 900MHz - White/Grey Review
I have only had this monitor for a few days but the reception meets our needs. It is very convenient and there is no white noise. This is being used while caring for my 92 year old Grandmother. This allows me to feel that I can check the mail or play in the garden. The reception for this model covers our entire property from the street to the alley of our brick house. It also penetrates all of our interior walls. She can keep in touch and I feel secure in knowing that I will not miss the opportunity to meet her needs.
So far so good. We had a Graco one before but started getting a lot of static. This runs on 2.4Ghz, not 900mhz like that description/title says.

So, I was worried that it would interfere with our WLAN but that's not the case. It's extremely clear. We keep it in the hallway between two bedrooms (where my kids sleep) and noises in both bedrooms can be heard. We use the nightlight on it and while it's not bright it's bright enough for us to navigate the hallway and both bedrooms.

We don't use the music or ocean noise things. It just seems creepy to turn on music remotely. Like I'm playing god or something.

The receiver is approx 100 feet away from the handsets and 3 or 4 walls and is clear.

Digital Handheld Portable 2.5 Video Color Baby Monitor Wireless Camera Daisy-(Day & Night) (Video & Audio) Infant Nursery Monitor with rechargeable receiver w/2 Packs CCTV Surveillance Cameras (1 Plus 2 pink and blue)
The video quality was okay but the picture would cut in and out frequently. The main problem was that the night light would come on randomly in the middle of the night. It would wake our two year old up and was causing a big problem. I would not recommend this product. Agpek was helpful and returned our money.
I'm going to try to return for credit, nice 15% restocking fee + shipping, and invest in a better quality device.
